I approach biology teaching with enthusiasm equal to my field research. My goal in teaching is to provide students with a sense of place in nature and introduce them to central concepts that help them to understand the natural world, while inspiring a dedication to conserving that world. To me, my purpose as an educator is to 1. Provide students with a framework of central concepts in the biological sciences and 2. Help them to develop a life-long critical thinking approach to understanding science.
